In short: THORNADO is a goat head collection system designed by Tech Ultivate, a garden tools brand operated by Qualitora LLC (Albuquerque, New Mexico). It exists because picking Tribulus terrestris burs out of gravel by hand is a terrible way to spend a Saturday.
Goat heads are a shared enemy across the American Southwest and well beyond: they flatten bike tires, hurt dogs, and turn barefoot summers into an obstacle course. Most of the tools people use against them were designed for something else. Shop vacuums clog. Rakes miss. Flame weeders start conversations with the fire department.
THORNADO started from one design goal: collect the burs off the ground without touching them, and get rid of them the same way. A foam roller picks the burs up through a disposable mesh sleeve; the sleeve peels off inside out, burs trapped, and goes in the trash. Around the roller we built the rest of the system: a four-phase control calendar, a strategy guide, and refill sleeves.
Where we are today
